VW slow to profit in North America (Sharewatch)

To compensate for the exchange rate, Volkswagen hopes to sell more cars in the U.S. that are manufactured in Mexico. It has reduced the base prices of its Mexican-made Jetta and New Beetle models to about $16,500 from about $18,000.

Volkswagen is working on a new Golf Hybrid in order to compete with other companies releasing compact hybrid vehicles. So far test results given by Volkswagen are pretty good with the Golf hybrid prototype using 10% less fuel than a conventional vehicle while running its engine.

Nov. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Germany's DAX Index fell. Deutsche Boerse AG, Volkswagen AG and Bayer AG led the decline. The benchmark DAX lost 54.61, or 0.9 percent, to 6309.19, after rising as much as 0.6 percent earlier. The measure gained 0.6 percent in November, it's fourth straight monthly gain.

1552 GMT [Dow Jones] Volkswagen (VLKAY) -2.7% at EUR83.20, on profit-taking following recent heavy gains, a trader says. Trader notes the stock's gains were due to Wednesday's speculation that Porsche (POR3.XE) was preparing to take over the company, he adds. Porsche denied the speculation.

The Volkswagen Tiguan Concept seems to closely resemble what the production version of the compact SUV will look like at its launch since the design is toned down from what it originally looked like.
