July 1 (Bloomberg) -- European stock-index futures dropped, following declines in Asia, as higher oil prices weighed on the earnings outlook for carmakers and concern deepened the economy won't improve anytime soon.

Volkswagen's Management Board is scheduled to decide July 8 on the site for a new U.S. manufacturing plant, with the company's Supervisory Board ratifying the decision on July 15. There also is new speculation that the choice has been narrowed to sites in Chattanooga and north Alabama.
